Günther Grollitsch was born in Klagenfurt, Austria, and trained in contemporary dance in Frankfurt am Main, Rotterdam and New York. As a dancer he was member of Amanda Miller's Pretty Ugly Dance Company, the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company, Israel, dance theatre Bremen and many more.
After presenting his first own works with the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company, he continued his career as a choreographer, dancer and lecturer in Germany. As a co-founder of steptext dance project, he has been involved in numerous productions of this international dance group since 1997, developing his own pieces, often with a special focus on spaces and music.
He choreographed at well-known opera houses such as Nationaltheater Mannheim, Theater Freiburg, Stadttheater Osnabrück, Theater Bremen and was awarded the European Tolerance Prize 2009 with the opera production "Gegen die Wand" by Theater Bremen, as well as in international contexts, including at the Theatro nacional de Sao Carlos, Lisabon or the Teatro Primero de Mayo, Santa Fe.
Together with Corinna Mindt he is founder and artistic director of tanzbar_bremen. For tanzbar_bremen he constantly develops new formats, curates and organizes festivals, such as the biennial international festival of inclusive dance art „eigenARTig“. In 2014, he completed the Master study of an Arts administration degree program at the University of Zurich (Executive Master of Arts Administration - EMAA). Until the end of 2015 he worked as an artist agent for ZAV with the Federal Employment Agency. In collaboration with the Swiss company BewegGrund and tanzbar_bremen, he created the dance theater piece KIPPPUNKT , which was shown in 2016 in the Dampfzentrale Bern and 2017 in the Schwankhalle Bremen. From april 2017 till oktober 2018 he worked as applicant manager for Martinsclub Bremen e.V. and does so for different institutions throughout Bremen. (Blaue Karawane e.V., Deutsches Tanzfilminstitut Bremen, steptext dance project). In February 2018 he was dancer and choreographer in the production DER EINTÄNZER with 80-year-old Gisela Peters-Rhose in Schwankhalle Bremen. He organized and curated the inclusive festival and gust performance project "eigenARTig - Tanz für Alle" for tanzbar_bremen in 2018 and 2019.
